ClamAV is a package dependency

Linux installers use the ClamAV packages supplied by the distribution. Keep the engine and malware definitions updated through supported distribution and FreshClam channels.

What the Linux application provides

Chowder provides Quick, Full and Custom scan modes with visible progress and honest clean, detected, partial, cancelled or error outcomes. It stores local history and keeps destructive actions behind confirmation. Standard remains usable without an account.

ClamAV tools behind the interface

The application works with clamscan, clamd andfreshclam. Linux on-access facilities depend on the distribution, kernel and administrator configuration; Chowder does not claim the kernel-level protection of an endpoint security suite.
