Chowder by Clarity Soft
A practical ClamAV interface for Linux and Synology.
Chowder is a graphical interface for the ClamAV engine. Standard is free with no account or licence. Each download page clearly shows which test packages are currently available.
Launch packages target Linux x64 and Synology DSM x86_64. Chowder reports blocking, notify-only, degraded or unavailable protection honestly and is not an EDR product.
Powered by ClamAV, trusted for over two decades
A proven open-source engine
ClamAV has been in continuous development since its first open-source release in May 2002. It scans email gateways, servers, and network storage for organisations around the world — and it is the same engine inside every Chowder scan.
Maintained by Cisco Talos
Since 2013 ClamAV has been maintained by Cisco Talos, one of the largest commercial threat-intelligence teams in the world, whose researchers keep the signature database current against real, active threats.
Chowder is the interface
ClamAV does the detecting; Chowder makes it usable through a graphical interface. Clear scan controls, readable results, safe quarantine, automatic definition updates, and scheduling — no command line required.
Chowder is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cisco. ClamAV is open source under the GNU GPL, with thanks to Cisco Talos and the ClamAV community.
What you get
Scanning that respects your time
Run quick, full or custom scans on demand and set local schedules with Standard—no account or licence required.
Always-current definitions
Virus definitions update automatically so your scans reflect the latest known threats — no manual downloads, no stale signatures.
Quarantine you can trust
Detected items are isolated safely. Review what was found, restore false positives, and keep a clear history of every scan.
For larger deployments
Repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing businesses can apply for a manually scoped Enterprise agreement. Capabilities are included only when the signed agreement says so.
Start scanning today, no account required
Standard includes local scanning, schedules, official updates, history and quarantine on supported release builds. Expiry never removes Standard or local data.
