Terms of service

The terms that govern your use of Chowder.

Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Chowder, you agree to these terms. If you are using Chowder on behalf of an organisation, you agree on its behalf.

The service

Chowder is a malware scanner for supported Linux and Synology systems powered by locally installed or packaged ClamAV components. It provides on-demand and scheduled scanning, definition updates, and quarantine. It is not an EDR product and does not provide kernel-level real-time protection. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups and additional safeguards for your systems.

Plans and Pro licensing

Chowder does not provide a customer account at launch. Standard is free and requires no licence. Pro is US$9.99 per year for one transferable activation. Paddle handles checkout, tax and receipts; Clarity Soft independently owns activation codes and signed entitlement leases. A browser return page alone never grants access. Enterprise is application-only and supplied under a manual agreement with Clarity Soft.

Acceptable use

You may not misuse the service, attempt to circumvent licensing or security boundaries, or use Chowder to violate the rights of others or applicable law.

Warranty and liability

Support is best-effort email only. No support service, response time or SLA is included unless a signed Enterprise agreement explicitly states otherwise. The service is provided on a commercially reasonable basis, subject to rights that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be communicated through the service or by email.
